Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Awareness Program at MEPZ SEZ, Chennai
As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace, MEPZ SEZ’s POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Committee organized a comprehensive workshop on 25th November 2024 at the MEPZ SEZ office premises. The event saw enthusiastic participation from employees across all levels, including DDCs, ADCs, and senior management, underscoring a collective resolve to maintain a harassment-free work environment.
The workshop focused on enhancing awareness of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act), while promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and equality. Smt. Pushpa Baghyam, a renowned expert in workplace ethics and diversity training, conducted the session, covering critical aspects of preventing, identifying, and addressing harassment in the workplace.,/p> Highlights of the Workshop:
Overview of the POSH Act: A detailed explanation of the legal framework and its significance for organizations and employees.
Recognizing Harassment:Practical insights into different forms of harassment and how to identify subtle signs in workplace interactions.,
Role of the POSH Committee: Clear guidance on how employees can seek assistance and redressal through the committee. Interactive Activities: A pre- and post-session quiz via Google Forms, with 53 participants engaging actively. A case study-based quiz session, fostering enthusiastic participation and recognizing winners.In her address, Smt. Pushpa Baghyam emphasized, "Workplace safety goes beyond compliance; it is about creating an environment where every individual feels respected, valued, and secure. This workshop is yet another step towards building a workplace culture based on trust and mutual respect.",
The event also featured an engaging interactive session where employees shared their thoughts and sought clarity on workplace conduct and policies. This dialogue reinforced the organization's unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on harassment and highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in fostering workplace harmony.
Thiru Alex Paul Menon, Development Commissioner of MEPZ SEZ, addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of regular workshops and training sessions. He noted, "Such initiatives are instrumental in empowering employees to understand and uphold the principles of a safe and inclusive workplace."
The day concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Prahu Kumar K., DDC, MEPZ SEZ.
