Infrastructure at the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) Tambaram is being spruced up with a sum of ₹500 crore to be spent in the next two years on various initiatives including laying of duct for nearly 17 km across the campus, said Alex Paul Menon, IAS, Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone
“The spending will help improve core infrastructure, including revamping the entire underground duct system. This will be around the periphery providing separate lines for effluent, sewage, drinking water, industrial water, separate lines, OFC and gas,” he said. “A tender is to be issued soon for the project,” he told businessline.
“By March end, the entire campus will have cameras. Parking violations and those not wearing helmets will be penalised heavily, Menon added.
