MEPZ SEZ UAC approves 17 proposals worth Rs.711.8 Crores

The Unit Approval Committee (UAC) Meeting of MEPZ SEZ was convened under the chairmanship of Alex Paul Menon, IAS, Development Commissioner, MEPZ SEZ, to review new investment proposals, employment generation, and policy initiatives. This session marked a significant step in promoting inclusive employment practices and driving substantial industrial investments. Key Approvals & Investments During this meeting, 17 proposals were reviewed and approved, covering SEZs and Export Oriented Units (EOUs) across manufacturing, logistics, and service sectors. The total proposed and approved investment amounted to ₹711.8 crores, with ₹65.96 crores in SEZs and ₹645.84 crores in EOUs, further strengthening MEPZ SEZ’s role as a catalyst for industrial growth.   Among the key approvals, M/s. Maiva Lifesciences Pvt Ltd received the highest investment approval, with ₹626.61 crores in the manufacturing sector at SIPCOT SEZ, Krishnagiri, creating 570 jobs. Focus on Gender Diversity & Inclusive Employment A noteworthy highlight from this session was the approval of M/s. Kratonicals International, which has taken a pioneering step by committing to employing five transgender individuals. This initiative represents a significant milestone in promoting workplace inclusivity and gender diversity within the SEZ ecosystem. Speaking on the development, Alex Paul Menon, IAS, stated: "A diverse and inclusive workforce is essential for industrial growth and social progress.
